Shepcote

A tailored service for Shepcote.

The Company:

Shepcote is proud to be a family run business for over 50 years! Michael Shepherdson established Shepcote and began trading in sugar in 1969. Shortly after the company began to manufacture handmade marzipan confectionery on Church Street, ‘Driffield and continues to successfully trade from their East Yorkshire base.  In 1994, Richard Shepherdson, the company’s Managing Director, took over the day-to-day management tasks from his father; he continues to apply and build upon the successful principles set by his father that have made Shepcote an industry leader. In 2003 Shepcote became the ‘approved supplier’ of marzipan confectionary to the Royal Collection with retail outlets at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyrood.

The Need:

Shepcote did not have a Warehouse Management System in place, everything was paper based and done manually. They chose Bridge WMS because they wanted more efficiency with automated processes for receiving, picking, packing, stock control and shipping. Additionally, Shepcote needed a Warehouse Management system that interlinked into their current ERP system which MJM Data Capture were able to provide.

  • A system that provided more visibility on where stock is and general stock control management
  • To provide more control for the tech team for batch traceability
  • To help improve customer satisfaction by reducing human errors

The Solution:

The Bridge WMS was installed with hand-held devices enabling better synchronisation of the movement of goods coming in and out to their existing ERP system and Bridge WMS. The Bridge WMS has created efficiencies across the whole stock control system, from the receipt of components that come into the warehouse, to their despatch.

The Warehouse Manager can now see unconfirmed transactions on the Bridge WMS desktop. This will help provide the Warehouse Manager more visibility on what transactions are being made and why and is able to validate them before processing.

By implementing Bridge WMS,  this has helped increase their productivity, reducing the number of time-consuming manual tasks by automating many routing processes and improving the speed and efficiency of their warehousing staff.

Orders being placed into Shepcotes existing ERP system synchronises down to the Bridge WMS which enables the warehouse staff to pick batch allocation orders on the scanner as well as reducing the Warehouse Managers time.

The Benefits:

Moving away from manual tasks has tighten control and helped grow the business. It has helped Shepcote provide more visibility of where stock is located and what space they have available for stock to be receipted in. The general look-up of stock is much more efficient and easier to see in realtime.

“Bridge WMS has helped revolutionise our Warehouse with Stock Control being the biggest change overall. Our customer satisfaction has improved greatly “- John-Lee Thompson (Exec MBA) Customer Service Manager at Shepcote.
